OSP: 11 people killed in nine crashes during Fourth of July reporting period
Ohio State Patrol troopers say 11 people died in nine crashes and over 130 arrests were made for impaired driving over the Fourth of July reporting period, spanning Monday and Tuesday.According to troopers, impairment was determined to be a factor in two of the nine fatal crashes, while a seat belt was not used in three of them.Last year, the department says, 16 people died across 16 fatal crashes during its Fourth of July reporting period (July 1-4, 2022). OSP adds that 133 impaired driving arrests were made, as well as 96 arrests for drug-related charges.In all, Ohio troopers say they responded to 249 crashes and rendered assistance to 1,067 motorists, making over 13,500 contacts with motorists.OSP encourages motorists to call #677 to report impaired drivers or drug activities.
