

Northern Kentucky had a lucrative day at the annual girls wrestling state championships conducted by the state coaches association Monday at Harrison County.
Olivia Messerly won at 120 pounds for her fourth state championship. She won all five of her matches by pin, including the finals over Faith Ramos of North Hardin, who had a 15-2 record coming in. Messerly finished 14-0 for the season.
Addison won the title at 126, winning all four of her matches by pin. The final was over Abbie Oliver of Taylor County, who was 10-4 coming in.

Simon Kenton sophomore Gabriella Ocasio, another veteran of the tournament, won her first state championship. She claimed the title at 138 pounds, winning all four of her matches by pin. She finished with a 21-1 record.
Overall, Northern Kentucky had nine medalists and one consolation bracket champion, equal to seventh place.
The 126-pound class was a productive one for locals, who took four of the six medals.
Cooper’s Maddie Thompson finished third at 126. She lost to Abigail Hudson of Highlands in the first round, then beat her in a rematch in the consolation bracket.
Hudson beat Campbell County’s Emmalee Chinn for fifth place at 126, with Chinn finishing sixth. Hudson finished 11-6 for the season.

Highlands’ McKenna Oaks finished fifth at 132 after losing a tough 4-3 decision in the semifinals. She finished 15-12.
Highlands' Angelica Jackson won one match at 120 and Emily Heilman went 0-2 at 107 but finished 9-9 overall.
Arianna Law went 1-2 at 107 for the Camels.
Cooper’s Elissa Luckhardt went 3-1 at 107 to win the consolation championship (seventh place). Ava Reed went 0-2 at 114.
Walton-Verona’s Sophie Anderson finished third at 114, going 4-1 in the tourney and 9-3 for the season.
Scott’s Hailey Malin finished sixth at 120, becoming the first female at Scott to win a state medal. After losing her first match, she won three in a row to clinch a medal, beating Henry Clay in a tight 8-6 match in the third round of consolation to clinch a medal.
Boone County had four competitors, Rebecca McCray at 120, Ivy Kelly also at 120, Tammy Cordell at 138 and Miriah Estes, . Cordell and Estes each won two matches and McCray one.
Conner’s Rose Thomas went 2-2 at 132.
