Xavier basketball falls in Big East game against Providence in triple overtime

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – A lot of games get categorized as instant classics, but there was one that lived up to that title on Wednesday night at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. 

No. 11 Providence came out on top, defeating Xavier 99-92 in triple overtime in a game that had four players foul out, a leaky roof that stopped play in the second half, and a buzzer-beating 3-pointer from Paul Scruggs to force triple overtime.

For Xavier, the Musketeers played one of the best games of the season. It just came against a really tough Providence team that made big shots and big plays down the stretch. 

It's a third straight loss for the Musketeers. Xavier's now 17-10 overall and 7-9 in the Big East Conference.
