Host Keegan-Michael Key brought the jokes about Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow's wardrobe during Thursday night's "NFL Honors" awards show, and drew a couple of the biggest laughs of the night from the crowd at YouTube Theater in the SoFi Entertainment District.
"Have you guys seen what Joe Burrow wore at the AFC Championship?" Key said. "You see this? Like just a 'Shaft' wannabe over here. I mean, c'mon, now that is a look, that is a look right there. I mean I love this. That's that drip right there. This is straight from the Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson puberty catalog. But I gotta tell you, I dig it. I dig it. This outfit - this outfit is so mind-blowing Patrick Mahomes saw a picture of this outfit at halftime and forgot how to play football."
The cameras immediately cut to Chiefs tight end and former UC Bearcats standout Travis Kelce right after the joke. He looked a little - shall we say - cheesed.
"Forgive me, Travis," Key said. "Travis is like, 'Oh man, you were my friend.'"
Last week, "The Rock" compared his back-in-the-day look to Burrow's in side-by-side photos he shared on Twitter.
Burrow was named AP Comeback Player of the Year earlier in the show, beating out Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott for the award.
Later in the show, former Bengals and current Rams offensive tackle Andrew Whitworth told a heartwarming story about a meeting he had with Detroit Lions linebacker Derrick Barnes, a former Holy Cross High School standout.
