Severe weather could be headed toward Cincinnati this week.
The National Weather Service is predicting a winter storm will pass through the area, beginning Tuesday and continuing through midweek. It's part of a storm that will bring a variety of winter weather, including heavy snow, sleet and freezing rain and is expected to impact a large portion of the central U.S.
There's also the possibility of a "corridor of ice" accumulation from Texas through the Ohio River Valley.
There are still uncertainties for what exactly will hit Cincinnati, but the National Weather Service currently predicts the area to see heavy rain or heavy mixed wintry precipitation.
Rain is expected on Wednesday. It will change to freezing rain and sleet Wednesday night and Thursday, bringing the potential for heavy accumulations of ice.
Thursday night, it could change to snow with some accumulation possible.
According to meteorologists with the National Weather Service in Wilmington, "The greatest concern with all of this appears to be the potential for a narrow ribbon of heavier freezing rain for an extended period of time, with significant accumulations of ice very possible for parts of the Ohio Valley during this time frame. That, combined with the wind on the backside of the system and the /very/ cold temps due to settle into the region for Friday into Saturday, pose a concerning setup, to say the least."
