Chris Mobley has stepped down as the head football coach at Hughes.
Mobley, who was hired in 2016, announced the news on Twitter Wednesday afternoon.
"I appreciate you so much and I'm thankful for the past six years," Mobley said in a Tweet. "This was an extremely hard decision."
Mobley spent the last six seasons at Hughes, accumulating a 26-28 combined record. Over the past three years, Mobley led the Big Red to a 17-8 record and a pair of playoff appearances.
He said he will continue to teach at Hughes and make use of the Coldwell Banker real estate license he earned in September 2021. He doesn't rule out coaching again if a good opportunity presents itself.
Mobley was named the Cincinnati Metro Athletic Conference Co-Coach of the Year in 2019 after leading Hughes to its first winning season (7-3) since 2007. The Big Red were CMAC Blue Division champions in the abbreviated 2020 season and made the Ohio High School Athletic Association playoffs for the first time in program history.
Last season, Hughes had its first two games canceled due to COVID-19 but bounced back to start 6-0 and make the postseason for a second consecutive year in Division III, Region 12.
