Kenton County man sentenced to life in prison for raping two young children


A Kenton County man convicted of raping two children under 12 years old has been sentenced to life in prison. Kenton Circuit Judge Kathleen Lape ordered the sentence, noting he has destroyed the innocence of two small children and damaged the lives of many more people who had to deal with the fallout from his crimes. In July, a jury deliberated for half an hour before finding Joshua Robert Turner, 31, guilty of eight felony offenses including rape and sodomy of two children under 12 years old. Park Hills police arrested Turner in September after videos and photographs were found on his phone showing him molesting two children under the age of 12.Commonwealth's Attorney Rob Sanders said Turner's former girlfriend found the videos and turned them over to the police the next day. She told police Turner was supposed to be watching the children while their mothers worked, Sanders said.Park Hills Lt. Richard Webster testified in court that he recovered the clothing worn by the girls and the clothing Turner wore in the videos.Turner was then taken into custody where police were able to match the tattoos on Turner's body to the ones seen in the videos.Lakeside Park Police Detective James Jackson testified he was called in to download Turner's cellphone and recovered the videos and hundreds of photographs."It was the right thing to do. Joshua Turner gave those children a life sentence and now he gets one too," Sanders said in a statement. He said Turner's victims are now in counseling and his office would work to make sure they have access to every available resource to help them cope with their trauma.
