"Before the issue was do we want to go back to mask mandate? Do we want to mandate vaccinations? Do we want to test everybody? It's difficult to do something that the restaurant across the street will choose not to do."Several major employers in greater Cincinnati have already implemented vaccine mandates or a requirement to be vaccinated or get tested weekly. Biden praised one of those companies, Tyson Foods, by name during his Thursday address.Among the list of employers who already announced mandates of some form are the City of Cincinnati, University of Cincinnati, Xavier University, Miami University and all the major hospital networks.Flechet said they will spend the coming days figuring out how to implement the new federal requirement. It is not clear who will cover the cost for unvaccinated employees to get weekly tests, but Flechet said he is willing to."I've not done the math because I'm not sure how much it will cost to buy the tests involved, but compared to the cost of shutting down a restaurant or getting somebody sick, that's something that we would figure out," he said.
