Vanderbilt head coach Jerry Stackhouse faced UC Bearcats twice at UNC

Vanderbilt University Commodores head coach Jerry Stackhouse didn't play at Fifth Third Arena during his two seasons with the University of North Carolina Tar Heels.

But Stackhouse did face the University of Cincinnati Bearcats twice in non-conference play while at UNC. And while they were both wins - one at home and one at a neutral site - Stackhouse likely is hoping his Vandy squad shoots better than he did against the Bearcats when he brings the Commodores to UC on Thursday.

In Nov. 1993, No. 1 North Carolina routed the No. 19 Bearcats 90-63 in Chapel Hill in the second round of the Preseason National Invitation Tournament. Stackhouse, a freshman, had four points on 0-of-5 from the field and 4-of-7 from the line.

In Dec. 1994, No. 2 UNC downed No. 10 UC, 86-76, at Charlotte's Bojangles' Coliseum in the Tournament of Champions. Stackhouse scored 17 points on 6-of-15 from the field and 5-13 from the line.

Stackhouse left North Carolina for the NBA after his sophomore season. He has been Vandy's head coach since April 2019.
