ST. LOUIS –– The Cincinnati Reds game on Saturday afternoon against the St. Louis Cardinals will not start on time.
Due to a continuous rain in St. Louis, the game is delayed until at least 3 p.m. eastern time. With the tarp on the field, the Reds haven't been able to take batting practice or warm up.
Saturday's game is the first time this season that the Reds had a rain delay at the start of the game. Earlier this week, the Reds played through the rain on Tuesday against the Arizona Diamondbacks, but that game was not delayed until the eighth inning.
There's expected to be a window to start the game between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. eastern time, and there's no rain on the forecast Saturday night. The Cardinals will decide when to start the game.
Wade Miley is the Reds scheduled starting pitcher.
