After a year of cancelations and postponements, live in-person shows are returning to Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park.Cincinnati Playhouse is bringing back live shows, including the popular "A Christmas Carol."The seven-show season will include the return of the holiday family favorite. The Marx Theater will fill at 30% capacity with just over 180 guests socially distanced, but officials say that can change as COVID-19 restrictions begin to relax. Playhouse leadership told WLWT mask requirements have yet to be formally set for the 2021-2022 season. It says it will follow CDC recommendations while calling on patron, audience members and cast members to use "personal responsibility" in addition to the Playhouse's safety plan.“We're one of the cultural cornerstones of the community," Playhouse Artistic Director Blake Robison said. "I think people are desperate for some live connection, we've all spent more than a year on Zoom or, you know, appropriately quarantined with a small number of people. And when you come out and you experience live theater together as a communal activity, you can feel everybody's shoulder starts dropping. You can can sort of feel the joy in the room. I think we all need a little entertainment and joy back in our lives.”For the spring and summer months, Playhouse is hosting in-person concerts at different Cincinnati locations. It is also hosting its annual kids summer camps at the Playhouse and in Mason. All campers and counselors will be masked. Open spots for summer camp are still available. Since last March, Cincinnati Playhouse and other arts organizations have lost tremendous amounts of revenue.
