Unborn child dead in Clermont County crash


A pregnant mother is injured and her unborn child is dead following a Thursday morning crash in Clermont County. It happened around 9 a.m. Thursday on US 50 near Whitney Drive in Miami Township. According to officials with the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a 26-year-old man was driving a tow truck eastbound on US 50, when his truck crossed the center line and struck a westbound Honda Civic.After the initial crash, investigators say that the tow truck continued on, striking a second westbound pickup truck, driven by Kathryn Venturella, 29, of Felicity, Ohio. Venturella, who was pregnant at the time of the crash, was taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center with "serious injuries," officials said. Authorities said her unborn child died as a result of the crash. Highway Patrol says the driver of the initial tow truck was uninjured, and the driver of the Honda Civic reported only minor injuries. Drugs or alcohol are not believed to be factors, officials said, and the crash remains under investigation.
