MadTree eyes third location following announcement of OTR expansion

Shortly after announce a new bar and restaurant in Over-the Rhine, executives at MadTree Brewing Co. have expressed interest in expanding to a third location sometime in 2023.

Shortly after announcing its expansion into Over-the-Rhine, executives at MadTree Brewing Co. have hinted that a third location may be on the horizon.

During a Real Estate Roundtable event hosted by the University of Cincinnati on May 14, Kenny McNutt, co-founder of MadTree Brewing, said the brewery intends to open a third location sometime in 2023.

This came just days after the announcement that Alcove, a new bar and restaurant, is coming to 1400-1410 Vine St. later this year.

However, there are no concrete plans regarding a third expansion and no location has been chosen, Assistant Brand Manager Trevor Self told The Enquirer on Monday.

Self said the brewery is currently focused on distribution and the taproom at its Oakley location, as well as the launch of Alcove. Though if Alcove proves to be success, the addition of a third location is possible, he said.

"Never stop exploring," Self added.

Alcove is being developed with 3CDC and is slated to open in fall 2021.

It will feature MadTree beers, house-made cocktails and food from chef Stephen Williams of Covington’s Bouquet restaurant. The space will feature living walls and living chandeliers. It will be open for lunch and dinner daily.

MadTree Brewing is opening Alcove, a new bar and restaurant, located at 1400-1410 Vine Street in Over-the-Rhine.

“Our goal is to create experiences that encourage people to connect with each other, get comfortable and relax in an easy-going, vibrant and natural space. Whether you’re popping in for a drink and bite, or making a night of it, we’re creating a space that feels like an urban oasis and a break from the norm,” MadTree Brewing co-founder Brady Duncan said in a statement.
