Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow offered his congratulations to the Bobcats of Ohio University, a No. 13 seed in the NCAA Tournament West Region, after they knocked off No. 4 Virginia, 62-58, on Saturday night at Indiana University's Assembly Hall.
"How bout those Bobcats," Burrow tweeted as a tribute to the university down the street from his alma mater of Athens High School.
It was among social media reactions shared widely after Ohio's memorable win.
Burrow moved with his family to the Athens area at a young age, when his father, Jimmy, became the defensive coordinator for the Bobcats' football team. Jimmy served in that position from 2005 to 2018.
Joe Burrow has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars through the Joe Burrow Hunger Relief Fund he established to help the Athens County Food Pantry since addressing poverty in Southeast Ohio during his Heisman Trophy acceptance speech in 2019.
