A suspect is in custody after police say he fired at an officer in a neighborhood of Westwood this afternoon.Cincinnati Police say it happened in a residential area on Evergreen Avenue.According to CPD, a 14-year-old boy was taken into custody after police say he fired one shot at a police officer. The officer was not hit. Nobody was injured."We didn't hear any kind of shots, or violence going on. I saw all the cops were there and was like what's going on," neighbor, Mike Brieede said.CPD tells us multiple calls came to 911 for suspicious activity in backyards around 1:40 p.m. Officers found a person who matched the description relayed by callers.When they found the suspect, that 14-year-old boy, he allegedly fired one shot at an officer. That officer, according to police, did not fire back. The suspect ran in the opposite direction and was later apprehended. "The one thing I have to say about today is commend the people that live in this neighborhood for calling 911, letting us know what they were seeing because without that, we probably wouldn't have been able to apprehend this individual so quickly," CPD assistant police chief, Mike John said.Earlier this morning, police received calls about burglaries near this area in Westwood involving a car that was wrecked. Investigators are trying to figure out if that situation is connected to this scene. "We're in the very early stages of investigating this," John said. "We have to recover some video surveillance, talk to witnesses, obviously want to interview the officers as well."
