Sheriff: Man charged in connection with inmates overdose death at Brown County Jail
A man has been arrested in connection with the overdose death of an inmate at Brown County Jail.It happened on Nov. 19, 2022, at around 1:30 a.m., when an inmate told corrections staff that his cellmate was suffering a medical emergency.Corrections officers responded and attempted life-saving measures before taking the inmate to Mount Orab Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. He has been identified as Joshua R. Oetzel.The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office determined the cause of death to be a narcotics overdose.On Monday, 34-year-old Monte Wisecup was arrested and indicted on multiple charges, including illegal conveyance of drugs of abuse onto the ground of a specified governmental facility, corrupting another with drugs, trafficking in a fentanyl-related compound, and involuntary manslaughter.Wisecup was arrested by the Pike County Sheriff’s Office on his charges, and officials say he will be extradited back to the Brown County Sheriff’s Office.
