PENDLETON, Ohio (WKRC) - Next year marks the 400th anniversary of the Mayflower arriving at Plymouth Rock.
A Cincinnati company is helping recreate a piece of the ship. The Verdin Company is creating a bell for the Mayflower II.
Nine members of the casting team will mold the bell publicly. It's a process usually done indoors, but Verdin's "Bell Foundry on Wheels" can cast a bell anywhere.
"It's going to look very old; it's going to look almost like a Spanish mission bell, so that's what would have been on the original Mayflower at that time -- a bell of that sort," said The Verdin Company CEO Bob Verdin.
The bell will be molded next Saturday and then displayed in the Plymouth Museum. It will eventually go aboard the Mayflower II for the landing anniversary in Plymouth harbor in the spring of 2020.
