The mother wanted in connection to a child found walking alone in Colerain has been taken into custody.32-year-old Heather Nicole Adkins has been arrested a day after charges were filed by the Colerain Township Police Department in connection to a 5-year-old being found walking alone near the intersection of Sheed Road and Gaines Road on Thursday night. Officials say the child has been safe and warm since he was found.Authorities say the child, who is autistic, is Adkins'.The Georgetown Police Department says Adkins was arrested at a gas station in Georgetown, Ky. Police say they went to the area for a suspicious person call.Officials say once police made contact with her, she began acting odd and the officer began to ask her questions.Authorities say she didn't have an ID on her and said she was from Shelbyville and mentioned she had three kids, one with autism, and said they were with friends and they're okay.Police say she had been treated in a Georgetown hospital earlier in the day for meth and heroin.According to the Scott County (Ky.) Jail website, Adkins was booked at 8:09 p.m. on Saturday by the Georgetown Police Department.Her warrant stemmed from a failure to pay charge from 2011.
