The College Football Playoff rankings will be announced Tuesday on ESPN at about 9 p.m., between games of a Champions Classic college basketball doubleheader scheduled to be televised on the same network.
The Week 2 release of the rankings is a departure from the regularly scheduled time of Tuesday at 7 p.m. The CFP selection committee will reveal the new rankings after Kansas takes on Michigan State at New York City's Madison Square Garden, and before Duke battles Kentucky at the same venue.
The Jayhawks and Spartans are scheduled to tip off at 7 p.m. The Blue Devils-Wildcats start is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. - after the CFP rankings announcement.
The University of Cincinnati Bearcats football team was ranked No. 6 in the CFP's first Top 25 rankings. The Enquirer's Keith Jenkins wrote Monday that UC head coach Luke Fickell won't think about or worry about where his 9-0 team is ranked Tuesday night.
The rankings will be released at 7 p.m. on Tuesday each of the next three weeks (Nov. 16, 23 and 30) before the final selection-day show Sun., Dec. 5 at noon.
