In a vote that ended Oct. 29, Cincinnati.com readers selected the Cincinnati Enquirer Athletes of the Week, presented by Mercy Health, from high school sports action through Oct. 24.
Winners through Oct. 1 should have received a certificate through the school's athletic department. The next round will come out in early November.

Here are this week's top choices:
Ohio football team: Western Brown – The Broncos shut out Batavia 75-0 in its third game scoring more than 60 points.
Northern Kentucky football team: Ludlow – Ludlow beat Dayton 49-6 and has won consecutive games for the first time this season.
Boys fall team: St. Xavier water polo – The Bombers captured their third consecutive regional championship after beating Princeton 15-7, advancing to the state final four.
Girls fall team: Milford cross country – On Saturday, the varsity team of seniors Ayla Grabenbauer, Sam Conrad, and Libby Mailloux; junior Kate Herrmann; and Freshmen Ali Maglecic, Claire McFarland, and Mahima Vasa captured the team's first regional championship appearance since 2008. In a strong 13-team field, the Eagles placed third to earn a regional-qualifying position.
Ohio boys cross country runner: Will Goodrich, St. Xavier – The senior led the Bombers to a first-place team finish at the Division I B race at the district tournament Oct. 23, when he took third place with a time of 15:46.8.
Northern Kentucky/Indiana boys cross country runner: Joseph Impellitterri, Conner – The senior won the 3A, Region 5 individual championship and led the Cougars to the team title, as Conner runners took all of the top five spots for a perfect score of 15.
Ohio girls cross country runner: Taylor Bacher, Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy – The freshman won the Division III district cross country meet Oct. 23 with a time of 19:18.2, advancing to the regional meet.
Northern Kentucky/Indiana girls cross country runner: Mackenzie McMain, St. Henry – She finished second in the 1A, Region 4 championship race.
Ohio football player, big school: Mason Rohmiller, St. Xavier – He connected on three field goals and was 5-for-5 on extra points in St. Xavier's 44-14 over Eagles Landing Christian.
Ohio football player, small school: Ashton Wolfe, Bethel-Tate – He had 4 interceptions, 5 solo tackles and two assists, setting a new school record for most interceptions in a single season and tying for most in one game.
Northern Kentucky/Indiana football player: Nicholas Darpel, Covington Catholic – He had an interception, a tackle for loss, and tied for the team lead with six tackles in CovCath’s 27-7 win over Conner.
Golfer: Joe Wilson, Lakota East – The senior finished as the state Division I boys golf champion with a score of 143.
Big school boys soccer player: Jonathan Gallenstein, Covington Catholic – He assisted CovCath’s goal in regulation, then scored the winning goal in overtime during CovCath’s 2-1 win over Somerset in the state quarterfinals.
Small school boys soccer player: Jaxson Snell, Taylor – The freshman scored two goals in the 3-2 win over Clermont Northeastern Oct. 19.
Big school girls soccer player: Kyleigh Conrad, West Clermont – The senior captain has helped anchor the backline all season. Assisting her team in the shutout against Turpin, she blocked a goal that potentially could have tied the game. She helped them earn their third-place league finish. She was also the Eastern Cincinnati Conference player of the week bc of the Turpin game.
Small school girls soccer player: Ashley Singer, Indian Hill – The sophomore scored two goals in the 3-0 win over Goshen Oct. 18.
Girls tennis, singles player: Shyla Aggarwal, Mason – She won the Division I singles tennis championship for 2021 Oct. 23. The next day, she led the Comets to another state team tennis title.
Ohio big school volleyball player: Audrey Armbruster, Mount Notre Dame — The junior put up 21 assists, a season-high six aces, three digs and a block in Mount Notre Dame’s 3-0 win against Hamilton on Saturday.
Ohio small school volleyball player: Cameron Goldie, Bethel-Tate – She had 23 passes, 2 digs, 1 block, 2 service aces and 6 kills in the 3-0 win over Mt. Healthy.
Northern Kentucky/Indiana volleyball player: Alivia Skidmore, St. Henry – She was named tournament MVP as the Crusaders won the 34th District championship.
Water polo: Jake Culter, Princeton – The sophomore scored two goals and had two assists in the South Regional win.
