Off to one of the worst starts in MLB history, the Cincinnati Reds have lately looked like their luck was starting to take a positive turn. Then came Sunday's game in Pittsburgh.
Starter Hunter Greene held the Pirates without a hit for the first 7 1/3 innings, but three walks and a fielder's choice led to the game's only run as the Pirates won without managing a hit.
Ke'Bryan Hayes' bases-loaded groundout in the eighth plated the winning run, and closer David Bednar retired the Reds in order in the top of the ninth to finish off the 1-0 victory.

The last time in the majors a team failed to get a hit in a game but still ended up winning was on June 28, 2008, according to MLB, when Los Angeles Angels pitchers Jered Weaver and Jose Arredondo held the Dodgers hitless, but lost the game 1-0.
With a 7.62 ERA in six big-league starts, Greene entered Sunday's game with no reason to expect he'd make a run at history.
However, the former first-rounder with the 100 mph fastball paired his sky-high potential with production for the first time in his MLB career, striking out nine and walking five in throwing 118 pitches. He gave way to Art Warren after walking two of the first three batters he faced in the bottom of the eighth.
Although the game doesn't count as an official no-hitter, it came just five days after another rookie, Reid Detmers of the Los Angeles Angels, tossed a no-no of his own in blanking the Tampa Bay Rays.
The Reds are 9-26 this season.
