An 18-year-old woman is dead after her vehicle was hit by a tire that broke away from a pickup truck on Interstate 75 in Boone County.Boone County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded around 12:15 a.m. to southbound I-75 for a single-vehicle crash.The sheriff's office said a preliminary investigation found that a woman, later identified as 18-year-old, Lauren Collins, from Independence, was traveling south on I-75 when her windshield was suddenly hit by a tire.Deputies believe that another vehicle, possibly a dually pickup truck, was traveling north on I-75 when its tire suddenly broke away causing it to roll out of control and over the concrete barrier, where it ultimately hit Collins’ vehicle.The Walton Fire Department extricated Collins and took her to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center where she died from her injuries.The Boone County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Team is handling the investigation.
