The 113th annual boys and 46th annual girls Ohio High School Athletic Association state track meets kick off Friday morning.
The track events will be split into three Columbus-area high schools. Division I will be at Hilliard Darby, Division II at Pickerington North, and Westerville North will host Division III.
Here are some storylines involving Cincinnati-area programs.
Will Cincinnati reign in Division I girls again?
In 2019, Lakota East girls won a Division I team championship. There are still pieces of that squad returning to Columbus this weekend with five Thunderhawks qualifying for state.
Junior Azariyah Bryant won a regional title in the 100-meter dash and led off a state-qualifying 4x100 relay that finished fourth. Seniors Carly Spletzer and Kelsi Harris finished second and third, respectively, in the 3,200-meter run. Senior Camiyah James was runner-up in the long jump.
Princeton could be the next Cincinnati DI squad to hoist a team title trophy. Madison Roshelle leads the Vikings, who won a regional championship last week. The senior was the region's long-jump champion and was on three relays – 4x100 (regional champ), 4x200 and 4x400 – that qualified for state. Princeton will also send its 4x800 relay to state. Senior Keniya Dexter won a regional title in the 800-meter run and Shazia Brown was fourth in the 100-meter run.
