The University of Cincinnati Bearcats will face the Arizona Wildcats in their first game at the 2022 Maui Invitational, according to a report Sunday night via Twitter from CBS Sports' Matt Norlander.
The Enquirer's Keith Jenkins reported in April 2021 that UC would be among the eight-team field at the tournament scheduled for Nov. 21-23, 2022, at the Lahaina Civic Center on the island of Maui in Hawaii.
Head coach Tommy Lloyd led Arizona to a 33-4 record last season, 18-2 in the Pac-12. The Wildcats, a No. 1 seed in the South in the NCAA Tournament in March, were upset by the fifth-seeded Houston Cougars in the Sweet 16.
Lloyd was named the Wildcats' head coach one week after Arizona fired Sean Miller, who returned earlier this year as Xavier's head coach.
Arizona last appeared in the Maui Invitational in 2018. UC last played in the tournament in 2009.
UC last faced Arizona in Feb. 1996, losing 79-76. The Wildcats also defeated the Bearcats in Feb. 1993 (70-60) and Dec. 1975 (71-64).
