THAT VEHICLE LEFT THE SCENE AND THEY ARE TRYING TO FIND VIDEO. I WILL SAY, THIS AREA HERE IS RESIDENTIAL. IT IS PRETTY DARK JUST AS NOW. THIS IS THE TEENAGER WHO WAS SHOT AND KILLED. THIS HAPPENED THE OTHER DAY. HE IS SHAWN LEWIS. HE WAS CELEBRATING HIS 15TH BIRTHDAY WHEN HE WAS GUN DOWN. NOW, POLICE SAY A 14-YEAR-OLD PULLED THE TRIGGER. THE SHOOTING HAPPENED FRIDAY NIGHT, JUST BEFORE 10:00 NEAR ORCHARD AND MAIN STREETS IN OVER-THE-RHINE. POLICE SAY THERE WAS A BRIEF ALTERCATION BEFORE THE SHOOTING. LEWIS WAS A HIGH SCHOOL SOPHOMORE AT DOHN COMMUNITY HIGH SCHOOL. HE WAS AT THE TOP OF HIS CLASS, AND PART OF A SPECIAL PROGRAM, CALLED THE YOUNG MEN’S ACADEMY GEARED TOWARDS KEEPING THEIR MINDS ON SCHOOL AND NOT IN THE STREETS. VICE MAYOR JAN-MICHELE LEMON KEARNEY SAYS WHEN IT COMES TO STOPPING THIS SENSELESS VIOLENCE, FINDING WHAT WORKS IS THE HARD PART. >> IN THE SHORT TIME, IT’S A MATTER OF MENTORSHIP. AND WILMINGTON CITY SCHOOLS WILL OPEN THIS MORNING AFTER THE DISTRICT CANCELLED CLASSES YESTERDAY, BECAUSE OF A THREAT.
