Former Moeller quarterback Gus Ragland is returning to his college alma mater as an assistant coach. Ragland, a 2014 Moeller graduate who attended Miami University (Ohio), is the new quarterbacks coach for Chuck Martin's Miami RedHawks.

Ragland spent the last four seasons as an offensive analyst for Notre Dame, where he served on the staffs of former University of Cincinnati head coach Brian Kelly and former Bearcats' defensive coordinator Marcus Freeman. Over the last four seasons, Notre Dame went a combined 41-10 overall and finished 2-2 in bowl games.
As a senior in 2013, Ragland threw for 2,058 yards and 22 touchdowns. He also ran for 1,674 yards and 30 scores, helping lead Moeller to a second-straight Division I state championship. In the state final, Ragland totaled eight touchdowns (three passing, five rushing) and 462 yards (273 passing, 189 rushing) in Moeller's 55-52 win over Mentor in the second-highest scoring state championship game (107 points) in Ohio High School Athletic Association history (1996 Division VI state final had 119 points).
In 2012, Ragland had 38 receptions for 414 yards and nine total touchdowns as a junior, helping lead Moeller (12-3) to a Division I state title.
Over a four-year career at Miami, Ragland threw for 6,312 yards and 56 touchdowns against just 13 interceptions. Ragland helped lead the RedHawks to the 2016 St. Petersburg Bowl and was a third-team All-MAC selection in 2018.
There were eight quarterbacks on Miami's roster last season and incumbent starter Aveon Smith will return after throwing for 1,299 yards and, 11 touchdowns as a redshirt freshman last season. He was also the RedHawks' leading rusher with 553 yards and six scores. The quarterback room in Oxford also includes Brett Gabbert, the younger brother of current NFL quarterback Blaine Gabbert, who appeared in four games last season.
