Remembering the lives lost and honoring the survivor in Clermont County murder-suicide


A community in Clermont County is gathering to support the sole survivor and victims in a murder-suicide that took place last week. Family and friends came together at the Connection Point Church for a candlelight vigil Wednesday evening to share memories and pray.“He had the biggest heart, he was absolutely loveable,” Ethan Cain’s second-grade teacher, Shannon Neus said.The incident happened around 9:41 a.m. on Monday in the 1100 block of Riebel Ridge.The Clermont County Sheriff's Office says they believe 46-year-old Theresa Cain shot and killed three members of her family including her 13-year-old son Ethan Cain, her husband 50-year-old Steven Cain, her father 74-year-old William Felton, and shot her daughter 20-year-old Samantha Cain who remains in critical condition at UC Medical Center. Steve’s sister, Wanda Garrison, says Ethan was a special kind person who was just like his father.“He was a lot like my brother. A sweet gentle soul. He just loved people,” Garrison said.Garrison says she visited Samantha in the hospital on Wednesday and says she has a long road to recovery, but she’s making great strides.“We were up there earlier today and they had her sitting up. She opened her eyes several times. She squeezed my hand. She's doing remarkably well,” Garrison said.Authorities say Samantha's health progression could provide "vital information" into the incident, which could "assist detectives with answers as to motive, which remains under investigation."There is a GoFundMe page for Samantha’s recovery as she continues to stay at UC Medical Center.
