MLB announces launch date for Cincinnati Reds City Connect uniforms

Neil, I've been here since 4:00. It's Oh, it's good to be here. How do you like Cincinnati weather here? It'll be warmer. March 30th. I promise. Even if the temperature is not the warmth of the city, the affection for this baseball team that will make up for that. So it'll be really great. Thank you, Neal for inviting me to emcee this. I've done this many, many times and I absolutely love it. And then when I'm done, I'll go by some of Debbie's cookies. It will be all set lately. I continue to see this man to my left who is about as good looking as *** model for gentlemen, cordially. So, so he's committed. He's smart. He's *** package, isn't he? We, we've had some wonderful mayors and then so we're delighted to have you. So what do you say? We hear first from the mayor of Cincinnati Aftab. Thank you for being here. Thank you. Thank you. Good afternoon, everyone. House Reds Country. How we feeling? Yes, let's get fired up. This press conference always indicates that spring is just around the corner and most importantly, baseball season is near the significance of the Findlay market opening day. Parade experience goes well beyond the sport of baseball and people marching down the street, it signifies the love that Cincinnati Inns have for our traditions and *** reminder of how we came together as one large community. I love walking in the parade, seeing the school groups lined up on the sidewalks with their signs cheering on during the parade. I love seeing the parents and grandparents with kids on their shoulders. I love seeing people watch from their office windows. It's *** truly special day in our incredible city. I want to thank the Findlay Market merchants who spend so much time on the parade every year. And I want to thank the Cincinnati Reds for making every single game *** great experience for the fans. It's now my pleasure to invite up Neil Lucan parade chairman who will give you *** preview of the parade and announce who will be the 104th Findlay market opening day parade. Grand marshal, go Reds. Thanks mayor and I just want *** second uh what Jim sentiments were. You're doing *** great job and uh everybody in Cincinnati is uh downtown's vibrant otr is vibrant. Uh there's gonna be *** great experience on March 30 where the streets are gonna be lined and filled. If we get *** decent day, we're expecting the crowd over 100,000 people come watch the parade and, and not just to show their support for the Reds but it's really *** day about Cincinnati. It's about Cincinnati's community, our values and how much fun we you can have on *** Thursday night on Monday, but on *** Thursday morning at 11 o'clock in the morning and just show how enthusiastic everything is and how happy we are for the, for the first rite of spring and the cr beloved Reds take the field again for one more year. Some of the highlights for people being in the parade this year. Thanks to our friend over there, Mr Jeff Gladys who spends endless hours trying to recruit people to get to be in this parade. I want to thank Jeff for everything he does. Um Well, we have *** Cincinnati Reds alumni float this year. It's gonna feature George Foster, Doug Flynn Rano Stir and Scott Williamson. So, uh once again, we have these names come out for, for *** parade. It's just, it's just shows how big and how, how, how much people love this parade and how much level people love you participating, participating in it. We're gonna have ***, *** Bengals kickers punters float featuring Doug Pelphrey, Jim Breech and Shayne Graham. We're gonna have *** Bengal Super Bowl alumni float featuring Ken Anderson is going to be in the parade this year. First time African. He's gonna be here, Dave Lapham Lewis Breeding, Tom Dinkel James Brooks, David Folder, Joe Kelly and Kevin Walker. All these guys have been in. We're in this either the first Super bowl, the Bengals were in or the second one. So, uh, and see all those guys that come out for this. It's just amazing. We're gonna have, uh, you see college basketball when I float this year sponsored by, uh, you see cancer and just to name *** few people, Tom Thacker, Rolling West, Robert Miller, Corey Blunt, Mel Leavitt and Damon Flint. We're gonna have *** Cold Iron Man. Mm *** wrestler float. And I can tell you any of those guys are, but they're gonna be here grunting and strutting and showing their stuff and whatever else the wrestlers do. The parades also include many fan favorites and like the mayor said, it's about the kids, it's about the local bands. It's about, uh, it's about the civic pride. Uh, there was an announcement to *** band *** couple of days ago that they, that they're going to be in the parade and the whole band room erupted in cheers. That's how excited these kids are to come down here and there from out of *** little way out of town. And it's just *** very exciting time for these kids get to say that they got to participate in the friendly market opening day parade. We have gone from just *** mass quantity of people that we used to just take forever. Today, we're down to 156 units and we, we stress quality over quantity. So it should be *** very entertaining parade from start to finish. And the parade is gonna be kicked off by our two grand marshals this year and we're happy to have one of them to be here today, which has never happened for the press conference. Bronson Royal and Danny Graves. Bronson. Come on up. Good to see you. Yeah, thanks for having me. Uh, I guess it's never happened before. I didn't know that. But, uh, but, you know, this could be the third time I've been in the parade. Um Also, I didn't, I didn't get the memo about looking at the sharpest mayor here. I would, I would have put on one of my old suits from the old days, but, you know, I'm excited to be in it. I mean, I, I've said for *** long time, you know, I want *** World Series in Boston and playing here in Cincinnati. This opening day is as exciting as anyone in the game. Um, the parade has been fantastic. I think I wrote last time with Matt Lactose and he didn't want to do it by himself. So I had to come hold his hand that year. But me and Danny Graves are gonna do it this year and I'm, you know, going into the Reds Hall of Fame this year, this is *** great way to kick off the season. And, uh, you know, and truly, truly, I mean, making Cincinnati my home after leaving here and playing for nine seasons. I mean, opening day, just having *** major league baseball team in this town is worth all, you know, it's worth everything. I mean, I grew up in *** town in Florida where there was no baseball at the time, the race didn't exist. And if I could have rode my bicycle down and seeing *** guy like George Foster or Danny Graves riding on the float and then seen, you know, 81 baseball games in my hometown would have absolutely fantastic. So I'm proud to be here. I'm proud to be *** part of it. And thanks for letting me be Bronson. Let me ask you *** little bit about Danny Graves because it's unusual, first of all to have to, but you played quite *** few years with him. Tell me *** little bit about Danny. Well, I actually didn't play with Danny. I played back when Danny was, you know, the baby faced assassin. I was with the Pittsburgh Pirates at the time and, you know, I was *** young guy and Danny was already established in the game. And, you know, he's one of those guys that you admired because he didn't have closer stuff, but he went There and, you know, he's, he's the all time saves leader for the Cincinnati Reds, which is absolutely remarkable. And, uh, you know, I'm looking forward to hanging out with him and get to pick his brain *** little bit. Well, I have to pick my own brain because I'm up early doing prep work. So, anyway, I got that one wrong. I'm good at that. 500. Uh, were you part of autism rocks just recently? Uh, to raise awareness and money? Yeah. You know, I, I just heard Ken Anderson is gonna be *** part of this, which is great and Ken has *** lot to do with Autism Rocks. My band has played that most of the last five years. I think, maybe three or four of the last five years were, you know, raise some money for some charitable contributions around town. And uh I get an opportunity to play music now in the city and *** lot of times it's raising money for people and just trying to help the community out and bring some culture here and it's always fun to be, you know, feel like you have *** place that's home after retiring from the game of baseball. Let me see if I get my average up to 6 66 3. Is Pearl Jam your favorite band? Did you find that on Google too? Yeah. Yeah. Pearl Jam is my favorite man. I, I actually jumped up onstage in Arizona. We played, uh I just put this record out on February 17th and it was uh the first time we were playing this stuff live at *** festival called, I got to see the guys in Cincinnati. I got to, I got to play *** couple of songs for, for the boys had *** talent competition. Joey Votto was saying *** little Toby Keith open it up And I got to do that. But the night before I got to jump on stage with my favorite band of all time, Eddie Vedder, Pearl Jam from, uh, singer from Pearl Jam and playing my favorite song, 15 year old kid black. So, I mean, I can't, I can't get any better than that. One of the things that ball player wants to do if possible is to play full out but not to be injured. Now for *** while, you dealt with carpal tunnel syndrome. And did you have to make *** choice guitar or baseball? Uh Yeah. Did you know that started, that started back in 2004? Actually, I was, my fingers were going *** little numb and it was from, it was from signing so many autographs for Red Sox fans and, and, and also using the same two fingers to hold *** pick on the guitar and I started getting my fingers started falling asleep. I actually didn't figure it out until I was with the Cincinnati Reds. Kent Mercker said to me one day, it sounds like carpal tunnel. You should go get checked out and the wind up being carpal tunnel. So, yeah, I stopped, I stopped signing autographs and playing the guitar for *** while so that I could throw *** good curveball to be that talented and have such *** warm, friendly personality. Let's hear from Probably even more important for 50% of the population. Besides this is the day to find out about the market opening day parade where the grand marshals are today is International Women's Day. So to the women here, you're right. And with that, I want to acknowledge you *** good friend of mine for so long, we worked together with radio and when she went to work for the Reds, I thought what *** home run the senior vice president, business operations of the Cincinnati Reds, Karen, forget Karen. Now this induction for Bronson Arroyo, Danny Graves. That will be in July, right? Where will that be held? Oh, so will we ask the public to be able to attend? Wow, That's great. So we all know, let's see. I think it's gonna be three weeks and one day from today, March 30 Opening day in Cincinnati. If you happen to be new to town. I know the fellow from Channel five is *** reporter. Beyond this is, this is your first adventure here? Right. Right. And the fellow from 19 working, you came from Tennessee. Do they have *** professional baseball team in Tennessee where they welcome to town and not only do we have one, this was the first professional baseball team. I don't know who they played if they were the first, but Cincinnati is so important to be in this community in this young person. Are you going to be at the ball game. Yeah. Yes, I just found out you're gonna be okay. So, come back again On that particular day. I mean, it's *** great place to start. I've been lucky. I came to town in 1968 and with one year when I was out of town, I've been in every single family-market parade and walked all the way this year. I think I'm gonna be at the head of the parade along with the folks from Kroger who Karen are gonna be the sponsors of one of the patches on the bench. Great. Well, thank you for being here. And before you leave, why don't you go into the market and check out some of the merchants. Lukens probably got some good looking hot dogs or he's got something for you in there. I know I'm going to do some shopping Neil. Thank you very much, Mayor. Thank you for showing up. This is great. Are you gonna be at the game parade? Bronson, you're gonna be at the game and the, and Danny Graves take *** look here. All he's done. The only thing he didn't get to do was actually be on the team at the same time. Bronson Arroyo was, that's the only thing I do think God bless us all. Let's hope everybody stays healthy and, and for us West side this Saturday night. So if you wanted that and then he said, Jim was talking about his Pearl Jam. He's gonna do *** show at Tribute and I don't know the day I sell some stuff I saw your name up on. Yeah. So that should be some really good shows. And he's gonna put on *** great show on opening day. The Reds are gonna put on *** great show on opening day to all this negativity about the red seats to go away and we need to get behind these young guys and let, let them prove us, let them prove these people wrong. And let's make this an exciting season. Uh Just when you think you guys don't have *** chance, that's what some people stand up and have their best day. So let's go, reds, let's go Findlay Market. Let's go Cincinnati next again. Thanks very much for being here. We'll see you at the ball game because I know you're gonna get to go.
