A man has been charged after falsely claiming to have killed his wife in an attempt to have law enforcement shoot him to death, according to court documents.Records say on Tuesday, a man, 53-year-old Bennie Burch, called 911 to report a homicide at his residence in Colerain Township, saying he had "cut his wife's head off."Officials say Burch did not respond to officers' commands to leave the home, causing a standoff that shut down a busy public roadway for nearly three hours as a standoff ensued.Authorities say SWAT was activated, and when officers made contact with Burch via phone, Burch continued to say that he had cut someone's head off and he wished for officers to enter the home and arrest him.Court documents say Burch told officials he'd be sitting on the couch with a knife and that officers should "do whatever they needed to do" upon their arrival.Officials say they eventually discovered the reported information to be false, and Burch admitted that he made the phone call in an attempt to get officers to take his life while responding to the false report.Burch has been charged with inducing panic.
