A man is in custody for allegedly breaking into a home and it was all caught on the homeowner's ring camera. Deputies say that wasn't the first crime he committed today before being arrested.Twenty-nine-year-old Cody Wallen, from Hamilton, is now in custody after a crime spree spanning several counties and several hours. The Butler County Sheriff's Office says it all started around 1 a.m. when Wallen allegedly stole a vehicle out of Dearborn County.He then traveled to Cincinnati, where he is suspected of burglarizing Hart Pharmacy. Just hours later, around 8 a.m. Wallen was seen on a homeowner's Ring doorbell camera breaking into their home in Wayne Township. The home is currently under construction. The Butler County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the scene within minutes. “Not only did we have one deputy on scene in minutes, we had four, five, six deputies there at the same time,” said Det. Daniel Turner with the Butler County Sheriff's Office. “Unfortunately for Mr. Wallen, the deputy that showed up second was probably one of the fastest deputies we have in the department. He quickly chased him down and he was not going to let up until he caught him and he did.”That’s when they say Wallen fled, tossing a bag full of prescription medication.“It didn’t appear he knew what he had, but if some of this stuff gets in the hands of people it’s not prescribed to, who knows,” Turner said.The homeowners and the pharmacy did not want to speak with us. Wallen is facing several charges, including two felonies for burglary and breaking and entering. “Without the cameras, this case would be completely different,” Turner said. “Without a fast and speedy response, this would be completely different because he would’ve gone away. We would have no clue who he was.”Wallen had four outstanding warrants, two for breaking and entering and two for theft. Even more could be added from surrounding counties pending an investigation into the stolen vehicle and the burglarized pharmacy.
