"He lost control, went right into the overhang at Paxton's, and he took it down," one witness said. "He didn't sit by for a second. He left again, ran through a red light and he was gone."Another witness said they heard a loud sound and turned to see the awning of Paxton's Grill taken down."I was standing across the street on the corner with a very large group of people, and we stood there. We heard a really loud sound, turned and looked. All of a sudden, the awning of Paxton's Grill was down. And then we started hearing crunching, and like metal sounding, and all of a sudden we realize it's a truck driving over chairs and tables, plowing its way throughout from under the awning," the witness said.On Saturday, breakfast was closed to make sure the building was safe for customers. By 4 p.m. the kitchen was back open for business."No damage to the building. We got really lucky there. As far as the awning and patio addition, it's a total loss," owner John Zielke said.Zielke said they're looking into ways to protect the patio in case anything like this happenis again in the future.
