New year, same travel issues.Thousands of flights were canceled across the U.S. Saturday due to weather conditions and COVID-19 cases.Most fliers fall on opposite sides of the spectrum.They either experience no issues at all or constant trouble from departure to arrival.More than two dozens flight at CVG were canceled Saturday and many more were delayed.Passengers had plenty of stories to tell, not all of them happy."It's been kind of a long day. Originally, I was supposed to fly directly into Dayton. Then, that flight got canceled kinda right in the middle of my vacation. Then, it took us a couple days to get rerouted. We finally got something here," said Julie Gray. Gray was traveling from Salt Lake City.She said getting there was easy.Unfortunately, getting home was not. "My son got on the phone and kind of begged for help and then we got this flight, but had two hours of delays there. So it was crazy. I'm happy to be on Ohio soil, but I'm ready to be home," she said.Some are luckier.One couple flew in for the weekend to cheer on the Bengals.They said everything was smooth even with the rain. "We had a great experience. Everything was on time and everyone was really easy to work with," said Michael Salvitti. And then, there are passengers like Brian Williams and his family who couldn't seem to catch a break."We're flying back from our kids' dream trip for the holidays out of Orlando. We got delayed out of Orlando like three hours because of a mechanical issue. We actually had two different planes that had mechanical issues. By the time we got to Atlanta, we had missed our connection," Williams said.As a result, their New Year's Eve turned into a night at an airport hotel.Only to wake up to more bad news. "Our flight to Cincinnati from Atlanta had been canceled. And at this point they had my wife and I going through Boston today to get to Cincinnati and they had the 5 and 7-year-old spending the night in Atlanta and going to LaGuardia tomorrow," he said.The family instead packed into a rental car and drove home.They pulled into the airport about 24 hours later than planned."It's been mind-boggling. I'm a medallion member for Delta. I fly all the time. Literally have flown Delta around the world and I have never had an experience like this," Williams said.
