This summer, indoor movie theaters are out, and outdoor movies are in.
In addition to Washington Park's weekly Summer Cinema event, Great Parks of Hamilton County is reintroducing its park movie showings for the first time in over a decade.
The Great Parks family-friendly events will be held on select Fridays and one Thursday this summer at various locations.
"We know people are ready to get outside and regain some normalcy," said Kim Whitton, Great Parks public engagement coordinator. "The movies in the park give us the opportunity to reconnect with some of our Trillium vendors and local food trucks to make the movie nights feel more like a mini festival than just a movie."
Craft and art vendors will set up shop at 5 p.m. before the 7 p.m. movie showings. Jen's Art Shop, Sharp Art Stained Glass and Artitude by Angela are among the vendors that may make appearances throughout the summer.
No registration is necessary, and food and beverages will be available for purchase. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own blankets and chairs; none will be provided.

Washington Park summer cinema
Washington Park is also back on Wednesday nights with its regularly scheduled Summer Cinema — with a twist.
In addition to the typical screenings, each month the park will show "Cultural Family Movies" with the intention of creating an educational space for conversations about culture and diversity. This collaboration with Keng Enterprises' "Culture and Collabs" will include films like "Drumline" and "Coco."
