South Carolina is once again the unanimous No. 1 team in the USA TODAY Sports women’s basketball coaches poll. But another big test awaits Dawn Staley’s Gamecocks.
The Gamecocks stayed unbeaten last week, handing Duke its first loss of the season in the process. But up Tuesday is a date with No. 2 Stanford. The Cardinal should be ready for the road environs, as they are coming off a win at No. 10 Tennessee.
Louisville edges up a notch to No. 3 after a victory against Connecticut this week. The loss by the Huskies, their third of the season and second without star guard Paige Bueckers, drops them to No. 11. It's their first ranking outside the top 10 since March 8, 2005.
North Carolina State slips two spots to No. 4 after a loss to Georgia, which moves up to No. 12. Arizona rounds out the top five with a three-spot gain.
The Big Ten holds down the next three slots, with No. 6 Indiana leading the trio. Michigan climbs to No. 7 after an overtime upset of then-No. 5 Baylor. Maryland moves up to No. 8, followed by Baylor and Tennessee.
