Thanksgiving isn't just a day for eating turkey and watching football.
Around Greater Cincinnati, there's also plenty to do around the holiday, from parades to running events to lighting the Christmas tree at Fountain Square.
With those activities will come road closures, detours and some bus reroutes. Here's what you need to know:

Thanksgiving Day Run
These roads for the annual run throughout downtown Cincinnati, the riverfront area and Northern Kentucky will be closed between 8 a.m. and noon Thursday:
- Second Street - closed (all access to Second Street will close at 7 a.m.).
- Elm Street - closed south of Second Street (closes at 7 a.m.).
- Freedom Way - closed (closes at 7 a.m.).
- Race Street - closed south of Third Street (closes at 7 a.m.).
- Walnut Street - closed south of Third Street (closes at 7 a.m.).
- Vine Street - closed south of Third Street (Closes at 7 a.m.).
- Vine Street - closed between Third and Liberty streets.
- Third Street - closed between Walnut and Race streets.
- Fourth Street - closed between Walnut and Race streets.
- Fifth Street - closed between Race and Walnut streets.
- Sixth Street - closed between Walnut and Race streets.
- Seventh Street - closed between Race and Walnut streets.
- Eighth Street - closed between Walnut and Race streets.
- Ninth Street - closed between Walnut and Race streets.
- Court Street - closed between Walnut and Race streets.
- Central Parkway - closed between Race and Walnut streets.
- 12th Street - closed between Race and Walnut streets.
- 13th Street - closed between Walnut and Race streets.
- 14th Street- closed between Race and Walnut steets.
- Liberty Street- eastbound closed between Race Street and Reading Road.
- Reading Road- closed between Liberty Street and Eggleston Avenue.
- Eggleston Avenue - closed between Reading Road and E. Pete Rose Way.
- E. Pete Rose Way - closed between Broadway and Eggleston Avenue.
- Mehring Way - closed between Johnny Bench Way and E. Pete Rose Way.
- Taylor Southgate Bridge - closed.
- Clay Wade Bailey Bridge - closed.
Price Hill Thanksgiving Day Parade
The parade will be held Thanksgiving Day morning, and the following streets will close by 9:45 a.m. for the 10 a.m. parade start, and they will remain closed until approximately noon:
- Ferguson Road - closed between Ferguson Place and Glenway Avenue.
- Glenway Avenue - closed between Sidney Road and Quebec Road.
- Warsaw Avenue - closed between Glenway and St. Lawrence avenues.
Metro bus service that normally uses this area will be detoured around the closure. Riders should follow the instructions posted at their stop.
Light Up the Square
The annual lighting of the tree on Fountain Square will be held Friday, marking the beginning of the holiday season around Cincinnati. Some roads will be closed beginning Wednesday to set up the event, and others will close Friday until around midnight.
All parking on the streets listed will be prohibited. The Fountain Square garage will be open but can only be accessed from the Walnut Street entrance.
Nov. 24 at 7 p.m.
- Fifth Street - closed between Vine and Walnut streets.
Nov. 26
- Fifth Street - closed between Race and Vine streets at 6 p.m.
- Vine Street - closed between Fourth and Sixth steets at 6 p.m. Access to the Westin Hotel will be maintained.
Metro bus service that normally uses this area will be detoured around the closure. Riders should follow the instructions posted at their stop, or use the nearest stop outside the closure area.
