University of Dayton student dies at Astroworld Music Festival


Alpha Psi Lambda, a hispanic interest fraternity, confirmed that a University of Dayton student passed away while attending the Astroworld Festival in Houston, Texas. Franco Patino was a 21-year-old member of the Dayton Fylers community. He was an engineering student from Naperville, Illinois. Patino was also a member of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers at UD. Alpha Psi Lambda released a statement regarding the death of their member:"It is with a very heavy heart, Alpha Psi Lambda National, Inc. shares that our brother, Franco “Cuauhocelotl” Patino, has passed on to Omega Chapter. Franco joined Alpha Psi Lambda at Alpha Nu Chapter (University of Dayton) in the Spring of 2020 with Los Unidos. On behalf of Alpha Psi Lambda National Inc., we extend our condolences to his family, friends, Alpha Nu Chapter and all that share in this loss. May his memory be eternal." UD will post information about a campus memorial and funeral for Patino when details are available. On the evening of November 5, eight concert-goers died as the result of large and unstable crowds at the Astroworld Music Festival. 50,000 people were estimated to have been at the event, and numerous injuries have also been reported.Astroworld is a Houston music festival created by rapper Travis Scott.Tune in tonight for more information on this tragic story.
