We were seeing double on "Saturday Night Live" this weekend.
During "The Dionne Warwick Talk Show" segment, Ego Nwodim's Dionne Warwick was joined by the real Dionne Warwick herself.
"I'm sick and tired of interviewing people who aren't icons," says Nwodim, after finishing interviews with Jason Mraz (host Kieran Culkin), Post Malone (Pete Davidson) and Ed Sheeran, Saturday's musical guest, playing himself. "Please welcome me."
As the crowd bursts into cheers, the real Warwick emerges and embraces Nwodim before sitting down across from her.
"Let me ask you something," Nwodim begins. "Dionne, why are you perfect?"
"My darling, I'm not perfect," the 80-year-old singer responds. "I'm just very, very good."
Later Nwodim asks if Warwick wants to "sing a song to the people."
"Do they deserve it?" Warwick asks.
"I think they do," Nwodim responds, and the matching pair stand up and begin swaying to the music for Warwick's 1966 track "What the World Needs Now."
Warwick starts in on the lyrics: "What the world needs now is love, sweet love..."
Then Nwodim chimes in for "it's the only thing that there's just too little of..." before the sweet segment ends with big smiles on both of their faces.
This isn't the first time Nwodim played Wawrick for the talk show segment.
In December 2020, she brought the character to life after the real life singer made headlines around the same time for gaining popularity on Twitter.
During that sketch, host Timothée Chalamet impersonated former One Direction singer Harry Styles.
Other guests on Warwick's mock daytime talk show included Davidson, playing longtime friend Machine Gun Kelly, Melissa Villaseñor as Billie Eilish, and breakout star Chloe Fineman, playing a giddy version of Chalamet that she's perfected on social media.
Turns our Warwick was a fan of Nwodim's impression from the beginning.
She told USA TODAY in September that she loved it and would be down to be part of the show.
"Sure! Why not?" Warwick said at the time.
We suppose she said a little prayer and it paid off!
