The Minnesota Vikings are expected to hire Paul Guenther as a senior defensive assistant, according to a report via Twitter by NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero.
Guenther was an assistant coach and defensive coordinator for the Cincinnati Bengals from 2005 to 2017.
He and Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer worked together on the Bengals' coaching staff from 2008 to 2013, when Zimmer was Cincinnati's defensive coordinator.

Guenther replaced Zimmer as the Bengals' defensive coordinator when Zimmer became Minnesota's head coach.
The Las Vegas Raiders fired Guenther in December. He had been the team's defensive coordinator since leaving the Bengals in 2018 to take the job.
In Oct. 2019, Guenther criticized the 12-game suspension of Raiders (and former Bengals) linebacker Vontaze Burfict by referring to it as "a witch hunt from the beginning."
