ESPN college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit's message to Cincinnati Bearcats fans in a video posted via Twitter by @GoBEARCATS ahead of Saturday's "College GameDay" extravaganza was simple: Get to McMicken Commons (adjacent to Tangeman University Center way earlier than 9 a.m. Saturday, bring your signs and get crazy.
Herbstreit added that the "GameDay" crew can't wait to visit Nippert Stadium for the first time, and UC head coach Luke Fickell will be live on the set during the show - scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon in advance of the 3:30 p.m. kickoff against Tulsa.
More from Twitter about "College GameDay" preparations:
Former Sycamore High School and UC Bearcats baseball standout Kevin Youkilis posted a video on Facebook, with the following caption:
Big weekend in Clifton! I hope @collegegameday is ready to see what @gobearcatsfb and Bearcat Nation is all about…
Gobearcats.com offered additional suggestions about what fans should wear (red), when and where to arrive, where to park and tailgate and how to get on TV, among other things. An excerpt:
The show goes live at 9 a.m., but you'll need to be in Clifton long before that if you want to stand in The Pit, a limited-capacity area directly behind the GameDay set that gets seen on TV most often. The line will begin forming at 5:30 a.m., starting at the east end of The Pit and stretching down the staircase towards Tangeman University Center. Bring your biggest signs and flags! Make your signs clever and easy to read from a distance for your best chance at getting spotted on TV. You don't need a ticket to the game to participate in the festivities, but if your sign is particularly awesome, you could win two tickets!
In addition to appearing on ESPN during College GameDay on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., there are more live TV opportunities for fans to show their passion to America:
