The first interception of the season for Cincinnati Bengals safety Jessie Bates III was the 10th of his four National Football League seasons with the Bengals, and his 65-yard return was the longest of his career. It set up the Bengals with a 1st and Goal at the New York Jets' 1-yard line, looking to even the score after the Jets put points on the board in the first quarter for the first time this season.
But a goal-line stand by the Jets kept the Bengals scoreless when they turned the ball over on downs.
Linebacker Germaine Pratt intercepted Jets quarterback Mike White less than one minute later. Pratt's four-yard return to the Jets' 15 also gave the Bengals great field position.
It was the first NFL interception for Pratt, who is in his third season with the Bengals.
This time they capitalized - on the first play of the second quarter - on Bengals running back Joe Mixon's 1-yard touchdown run to even the score at 7.
