A dog survived a 170-foot fall at Kentucky's Red River Gorge after chasing a lizard over a cliff's edge. Tyson the pit bull-mix survived the massive fall relatively unscathed on Sunday afternoon. According to officials with the Wolfe County Search and Rescue Team, a hiker reported that his dog leaped from the stony cliff around 1 p.m. Sunday. That hiker reported that his dog chased a lizard over the edge on top of Frog's Head Rock, a scenic overlook along the Indian Staircase and Indian Arch Loop trail.Rescue crews say teams were called to the Bison Way Trail Head and made their way towards the base of the Frog’s Head cliff-line.There, they ran into a group of hikers who said they saw an unleashed dog walking in the area. The hikers shared a photo of the dog with rescuers, who confirmed with the owner that this was in fact the same dog that had fallen from the cliffside earlier that afternoon.The team split up and eventually found the dog."He was quickly found for a joyful reunion. How Tyson survived 170' fall is nothing short of miraculous and he was basically unhurt. This has certainly been a week of miracles in the Red River Gorge," officials with the Wolfe County Search and Rescue Team said in a Facebook post.
