Cincinnati Bearcats move to 7-0, but win vs. Navy lacks style points

UC's Josh Whyle (81) runs the ball down the field during the UC Bearcats vs. Navy Midshipmen game at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium on Saturday October 23, 2021. The Bearcats lead the game at halftime with a score of 13-10.

The University of Cincinnati Bearcats remained unbeaten this season, moving to 7-0 (3-0 in the American Athletic Conference) with a 27-20 win Saturday against the Navy Midshipmen. But it was not a victory that will get UC too many of the style points they're seeking in pursuit of a College Football Playoff berth.

The Bearcats trailed early, and their halftime lead was just 13-10. Then, they were held scoreless in the fourth quarter, while Navy rallied with 10 points to cut UC's lead to just one score.

The Midshipmen recovered an onside kick late in the fourth quarter down by seven, but UC's Arquon Bush's intercepted Navy's Tai Lavatai to seal the Bearcats' win.
