Police investigate incident after RV parked in downtown Lexington


Lexington police are investigating an incident in the downtown area of Short Street and Market. An officer noticed a large RV parking in a downtown parking lot at 7:40 p.m. Thursday. Police said an explosives detection K-9 was brought in to the scene and it alerted to the vehicle.Police tweeted out the information around 8:30 p.m. Thursday and in the tweet it advised pedestrians and motorists to avoid the area. Police shut down traffic in the area of Vine to Third Street in downtown Lexington. Police said the scene was cleared around 10:15 p.m.As of 10:25 p.m. Lexington police said the downtown area was evacuated and the Hazardous Devices Unit responded to the scene. Lexington police officers made contact with the driver of the RV and did not find any explosives. WLWT is working to learn more about this incident.
