‘He’s entitled to his opinion’

Update: Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin responded to remarks Cincinnati Bengals receiver Tyler Boyd made Monday about the Steelers' effort late in the game Sunday.

"I don't care about Tyler Boyd's opinion regarding what transpired at any point in that game," Tomlin said. "Like I said after the game, and it includes him, I tip my cap to that team and that organization for their performance and win. I proceed on to the next challenge. ... He's entitled to his opinion, but I don't have to respond to it."

Earlier: Boyd spoke candidly Monday, and may have touched a nerve with Pittsburgh's players, coaches and fans.

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tyler Boyd (83) eyes the end zone on a catch run for a touchdown in the first quarter during a Week 3 NFL football game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Sunday, Sept. 26, 2021, at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh.

Boyd was asked what he thought about how the Steelers assessed their opponent during Sunday's 24-10 loss compared with Bengals' teams of the past.

"I think the good thing about that win was not only did the Steelers feel that, everybody in the country felt it," Boyd told reporters. "Because the last plays of the game for them, they gave up. You could see it. They had three drops in a row. For a team to see that is giving us more power, giving us the antidote to know how good we are. So for a team to just lay down like that before the game was over - because no matter what, no matter how much we're losing by or whatever the case may be, I know me and I know us. We're not giving up. We are going to continue to try and make plays and make something happen. But they portrayed to the whole nation on TV what they were about and how they gave up. So we just got to take advantage."

Boyd scored the first of two first-half touchdowns for the Bengals on Sunday, bouncing off defender Melvin Ingram III and running to the end zone.

The Bengals and Steelers are scheduled to meet again Nov. 28 at Paul Brown Stadium.
