Cincinnati Bengals’ injury report: Bates would’ve missed practice

The Cincinnati Bengals did not practice Monday in advance of Thursday night's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars at Paul Brown Stadium, but an estimated injury report the team released indicated that safety Jessie Bates would've been among five players not participating in practice.

Pittsburgh Steelers running back Najee Harris (22) collides with Cincinnati Bengals free safety Jessie Bates (30) on a run in the second quarter of the NFL Week 3 game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Cincinnati Bengals at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh on Sunday, Sept. 26, 2021. The Bengals led 14-7 at halftime.

The others - per The Enquirer's Kelsey Conway - were receiver Tee Higgins, defensive back Chidobe Awuzie, offensive tackle Riley Reiff and guard Xavier Su'a-Filo.

Defensive backs Trae Waynes and Darius Phillips and linebacker Markus Bailey were listed as limited participants.

The extent of Bates' neck injury wasn't known by many until the injury report was released, though the fourth-year player did appear to suffer an awkward hit during the fourth quarter of the Bengals' 24-10 win in Pittsburgh.

Bates has started all 51 games for the Bengals since they selected him in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft.
