Cardinals lead Phillies, Reds in the wild-card standings

The Cincinnati Reds couldn't gain any ground on the St. Louis Cardinals in the National League wild-card standings Saturday despite their 7-6 win against the Washington Nationals, as the Cardinals defeated the Cubs in Chicago for their 15th consecutive win.

The San Diego Padres were eliminated from playoff contention.

The Reds trail the Cardinals by 6 games. The Philadelphia Phillies trail St. Louis by 5 games - and still 1 game ahead of the Reds - after a 3-0 win Saturday against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

The Cardinals play one more game against the Cubs Sunday. The Reds and Washington Nationals play one more game Sunday at Great American Ball Park. The Phillies play one more against the Pirates Sunday.

The Reds, Phillies and Cardinals enter Sunday with 7 games remaining in the 2021 Major League Baseball season.

The Cardinals are 86-69. The Phillies are 81-74. The Reds are 80-75.
