Cardinals lead Phillies, Padres and Reds in the wild-card standings

The Cincinnati Reds fell another 1/2 game behind the St. Louis Cardinals in the National League wild-card standings Friday despite their 11-inning win against the Washington Nationals, as the Cardinals earned their 13th and 14th consecutive wins with a doubleheader sweep of the Cubs in Chicago.

The Reds trail the Cardinals by 6 games. The Philadelphia Phillies trail St. Louis by 5 games - and still 1 game ahead of the Reds - with an 8-6 win Friday against the Pittsburgh Pirates. The San Diego Padres trail the Cardinals by 7 games - and trail the Reds by 1 game.

The Cardinals play two more games against the Cubs Saturday and Sunday. The Reds and Washington Nationals play two more games Saturday and Sunday at Great American Ball Park. The Phillies play two more against the Pirates Saturday and Sunday. The Padres play two more Saturday and Sunday against the Braves.

The Reds, Phillies, Padres and Cardinals enter Saturday with 8 games remaining in the 2021 Major League Baseball season.

The Cardinals are 85-69. The Phillies are 80-74. The Reds are 79-75. The Padres are 78-76.
