Middletown City Schools moves football game at urging of police

Friday night's football game at Barnitz Stadium in Middletown has been moved to Colerain following a recommendation from police.

Middletown City Schools has decided to move its high school football game scheduled for Friday night following a recommendation from police. 

The game, which was supposed to be held at Middletown's Barnitz Stadium, will now take place at Colerain High School's football stadium, according to a statement posted on the school district's website on Thursday. 

"This decision comes after multiple recent incidents in our neighborhoods," the statement reads. "While decisions like these are never fun or easy, it is our duty to ensure the safety of our students, spectators, and visitors."

The statement didn't provide specifics regarding the incidents that prompted the decision to move the game to Colerain.

But the district is asking anyone with information regarding any of the incidents to contact the Middletown Police Department at 513-425-7700.
