Campbell County junior commits to UK baseball

Campbell County junior Aydan Hamilton takes a swing as Campbell County defeated Harrison County 8-5 in the 2021 KHSAA 10th Region baseball championship game.

Campbell County junior Aydan Hamilton has committed to the University of Kentucky to play baseball for the Wildcats in the Southeastern Conference.

Hamilton, a 6-foot-4, left-handed hitter, hit .381 with three home runs and 37 RBI last season. He also stole 30 bases out of 31 attempts and was second on the team with 37 runs scored.

Campbell County was 25-15 last season, rolling through the 10th Region Tournament to win the championship after an up-and-down regular season.

The Camels lost to Lafayette in the state round of 16.

Hamilton played in the Prep Baseball Report Futures Games this summer. PBR projects Hamilton as an athletic player with power that will only improve.

UK was 29-23 this past season. Walton-Verona pitcher Travis Smith from the Class of 2021 has signed with the Wildcats for the upcoming season.

UK also has Seth Logue from Moeller and St. Xavier grad Wyatt Hudepohl. Both of them were relief pitchers last season.

Hamilton is also a basketball standout for the Camels. He helped the team to a 18-9 record in the  37th District, and the Camels were 10th Region runner-up after losing at the buzzer to George Rogers Clark.

Hamilton was second on the team in scoring at 16 points per game and averaged 5.7 rebounds.
