An Oklahoma teenager who suffered a brain injury after being thrown off a bull this past July is getting back in the saddle this weekend for the International Finals Rodeo at Guthrie’s Lazy-E Arena.“My feet came up, and then I went forward, and my head hit the bull’s head,” 19-year-old Lukasey Morris said. “Then I pretty much almost did a backflip, and then my head hit the ground really hard.”Morris was knocked unconscious and suffered two brain bleeds and severe swelling. Doctors were unsure if he’d ever ride again.“I feel really blessed,” Morris said. “The doctor said that I could’ve spent a year in therapy trying to get back to normal.”Fortunately, that wasn’t the case. Morris bounced back just two months after his accident, riding his way to the International Finals Rodeo as one of the top 15 competitors looking to win and, one day, get back on the bull that caused his injuries.“I want a rematch soon,” he said.According to Morris, some of his fellow competitors stepped up to help pay for his medical bills, something he said he’s grateful for.
